Wedding Gift

It was my friends' wedding last Saturday, and buying the right present is always hard, especially when it's off of a gift list. So, as a little extra, I made these champagne toppers out of card, ribbon and netting, to give my gift a more personalised touch....

INSIDE OUT BOY - GARGOLES

So, I got a new camera, about a month ago now, and me and tommy decided to try our hands at a stop motion movie. We kind of made the theme up as we went along, but it actually into a well rounded story (at least I think so!). Not bad for a first attempt. But watch this space...once I have a tripod, I will start making some less-jerky movies.

Afternoon Tea

Today I went strawberry picking...

they tasted sooooo good, so i turned them into jam!

Strawberry Jam

Ingredients:

800g strawberries

1kg jam sugar

Knob of butter

Mash the strawberries in a saucepan using a potato masher.

Mix in the sugar.

Heat on the hob, but DO NOT boil. Add the knob of butter when the strawberries get warm.

Now you can let it boil...but when it does, only boil for 4 minutes.

Quickly remove the pan from the hob and pour the mix into jam jars, and add a pretty gingham lid, and a mental label designed by your boyfriend....

Cherry and Plain Scones

Ingredients:

450g plain flour

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp baking powder

55g butter

2 tbsp caster sugar

250 ml milk

3 tbsp milk for glazing

a handful of cherries

After mixing all of the ingredients together, i rolled it out to 1cm thickness.

...then i chopped out circles.

Cherry scones, brushed lightly with milk to give a golden tan.

Plain scones, also brushed with milk.

After a brief twenty minutes in the oven, at gas mark 7, these little joys emerged...

nom nom nom

delicious served with my strawberry jam and clotted cream, and a hot cup of tea to wash it down.

My Degree Show

Wow, I suck at blogging it seems. I MUST be more frequent with this! Anyhow, I had my degree show...about a month ago now! June 7-11th. It's crazy how long I've worked towards it, and it went like the click of a finger! I'm very proud of the outcome though, especially my houses :)

My work was made up of casts of dolls' houses. The casting process inevitably enacts the creation of a replica of an object that no longer exists and accordingly its memory is made tangible. Evoking a memory of the transitional period between childhood and adulthood, my work attempts to create an element of play through the choice of materials, colour, size and weight.
