We Make the BEST Gifts

In absolute tradition, I had to make Tommy a Christmas gift. Last year he got a calendar, and the year before he got a plush pizza, and this year, he got the BEST so far....

Last year, when we traveled Europe, to amuse ourselves on the lengthy train journeys, me and Tommy took great enjoyment in playing that kids game - you know the one where one person draws the head, the next draws the torso, legs, feet and so on. We actually made a zine of them, (check in out on http://thomaskeyillustration.com/ under Diaspora). This was my favourite:

Then, without his knowledge, I made it into a plush toy. Pretty awesome right?

It's for sure my most favourite Thomas Key Illustration inspired creation EVERRRR.

Epic Phone Pouch Skills

Last weekend, my cousin set me the challenge of making him a cool phone pouch to house his blackberry. He asked Thomas Key to use his illustration skills to come up with a quirky design, from which I chose the fabrics and made. And this is how it turned out:

TOMS Style Your Sole, Nottingham

In case you didn't know, TOMS shoes have been holding a weekly event named Style Your Sole for the past few weeks at various Office stores throughout the country. The deal is, you purchase a pair of Toms, take them over to one of the illustrators, and get them to doodle all over your shoes. I went down on Thursday to the Nottingham Office branch to check it out:

How Bazaar

Yesterday, I got involved with a handmade and vintage fair - How Bazaar - in Lincoln. It was an awesome event, with entry proceeds going to a leukaemia charity. What a great opportunity to showcase my Pecan Pie range of handmade crafts, and modest selection of vintage, reworked vintage and handmade clothing, as well as helping a good cause. It was such a buzz, and I can't wait to get involved with some more fairs! Sharing my store, Thomas Key boasted a range of original, framed artwork, and a selection of zines, which stirred a lot of interest amongst the illustration students of Lincoln. Alongside us, there were tons of other inspiring craft-makers exhibiting and selling their goods. I took photos of some of my favourite stalls - scroll down to have a peek...
