Today I went strawberry picking...
Strawberry Jam
Ingredients:
800g strawberries
1kg jam sugar
Knob of butter
Mash the strawberries in a saucepan using a potato masher.
Mix in the sugar.
Cherry and Plain Scones
Heat on the hob, but DO NOT boil. Add the knob of butter when the strawberries get warm.
Now you can let it boil...but when it does, only boil for 4 minutes.
Quickly remove the pan from the hob and pour the mix into jam jars, and add a pretty gingham lid, and a mental label designed by your boyfriend....
Cherry and Plain Scones
Ingredients:
450g plain flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
55g butter
2 tbsp caster sugar
250 ml milk
3 tbsp milk for glazing
a handful of cherries
